Project: Homewood School, Tenterden

This project required the construction of a basement to form the lower level of a four storey building. The basement was constructed tight against an existing two story history classroom building with pad foundations. To enable excavation of the basement trench sheets were installed along the line of the building to prevent it being undermined and to ensure the building loads were transferred below the deepest level of our excavation.

The depth of the basement excavation below ground level was approx 3.7 m. The plan size of the basement was approx 20m x 30m. Drainage was installed under the basement ground slab which included a foul pumping chamber to discharge sewage into an adjacent gravity system.
